Now I want him to help me deliver the best Olympic legacy ever,? Mr Cameron said. ?Legacy has been built into the DNA of London 2012 from the very beginning thanks to Seb. I?m delighted that [International Olympic Committee president] Jacques Rogge described our legacy plans as a blueprint for future Games hosts.? The prime minister continued: ?I am determined to make the most of the economic opportunities on offer from hosting the Games ? making sure that we turn these Games into gold for Britain. I cannot think of a better person than Seb to be our ambassador to the global market-place and make sure we achieve our ambitious legacy targets.? Capitalising on this within the UK and around the world is clearly a priority and I am delighted to be involved.? A ComRes poll for the People found 68 per cent thought Lord Coe had done a ?brilliant job? as chairman of Locog. The government has already announced that funding levels for British sport from before the Games would be maintained until the Rio Olympics in four years, with UK Sport to continue distributing ?125million every year. Despite the prime minister?s claim that these had been the ?best Games ever?, Lord Coe said he would let the public be the ultimate judges. ?The athletes were happy, the national governing bodies and international federations are happy. I will leave the judgment about where we sit to others,? he said. ?I am pretty pleased with the way we have delivered.? PICTURES : More images from the London 2012 Olympics
