Matt Smith has revealed he will remain on Doctor Who until at least 2014 after show creator Steven Moffat lured him with ?brilliant? future storylines. Matt Smith has said he will be appearing in Doctor Who for at least another two years (Picture: BBC) The actor said that he was keen to stay on board to appear in the 2013 series, which Moffat has reportedly already begun writing. And he told The Sun, ?His first episode sounds great. It hasn?t been written yet but the idea is as brilliant and as mental as you?d expect from Steven. So there?s a lot to look forward to. ?When Steven was going to pitch the next season to me not long ago, he said, ?Are you ready to cry??.? Smith added. He also revealed that he was also keen to be a part of the series when it celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. The new series will mark the departures of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as Amy and Rory (Picture: BBC) ?We want to do 50 years ? and everyone that?s been associated with the show ? justice,? Smith said. ?We want to go, ?Look, world, here is Doctor Who. It?s 50 years old, a science-fiction show, still going and going from strength to strength?.?. He added that Moffat would come up with something ?brilliant? to celebrate the anniversary. Doctor Who will return to screens later this month with a series opener entitled Asylum Of The Daleks. The episode will premiere at BFI Southbank on Tuesday before being screened at the Edinburgh International TV Festival which runs from August 23-25. The forthcoming series will also see the departure of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who play Amy Pond and Rory Williams, and the arrival of the Doctor?s new sidekick played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
